Beginning June 2nd, Historic Fairview Park will open the farmer’s market that had been hosted in Delmont under the direction of Delmont’s mayor, Alice Urban and several volunteers.
Fearing the loss Delmont’s farmer’s market, a trustee and board President of Historic Fairview Park approached the mayor with an offer to keep the farmer’s market within the communities of Delmont and Salem Township. Alice Urban agreed that Historic Fairview Park would be a good location for the upcoming seasons as it is still close to its original location and easily accessible from Delmont and surrounding communities of New Alexandria, Export, Murrysville and Greensburg. Several Delmont volunteers will continue to assist with the farmer’s market and related events at Fairview Park.
The market will run each Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. There is ample parking and plenty of space for residents of all ages to enjoy the wares of market vendors, music from local bands as well as space for kids to romp and play. Vendors from Delmont will be participating at the market’s new location on E. Pittsburgh street and Rock Springs Road, just off route 22.
There will be no farmer’s market on Saturday, August 18th, as Historic Fairview Park will host its 18th Annual Old Fashioned Picnic. This event is open to the public and residents are welcome to come enjoy a day of food, fun, music, and community.
